Part 23 Khushi's Nervousness 

Arnav was fed up with Sheetal's winning. They were in the position of expecting her performance in the race. Relay race needs equal and good performance of all the four runners. If any one of them messed up, they would lose the race. He didn't know why he could not trust Sheetal. She was not like before. She has started playing dirty games nowadays. 

Yet, he expected her to perform well because Sheetal was trying to get her OLD position in their gang. If she performed well and their college won the race, there were many chances for her previous mistakes to fade. He believed Sheetal would use the chance. 

"Congratulations" Khushi wished Aman and Sheetal. 

"Thanks, Khushi" Sheetal smiled so casually, and Aman gave a nod. 

"We are going to run together for our college..." Sheetal said. 

"Yeah, we are going to run for our college. This is a chance to show our college power," Arnav said, reading sheetala expression.

"You are absolutely right. This is a great opportunity to lift our college name" Sheetal said enthusiastically.

"We should practice well," Aman said.

"Yeah, we have a very short period. By the way, why does the company organise the sports meet?" Sheetal asked.

"It's a business trick to show expenses to the income tax department", Arnav said.

"Oh... Just like you are sponsoring Khushi...?" Sheetal said.

Controlling his anger, Arnav looked at Khushi who was shocked. 

"Do you say I'm selfishly helping her?" Arnav asked gritting his teeth. 

"No no, You are mistaken. I just asked my doubt"

"So what if I do that selfishly? Who is not selfish here? You have no right to talk about it because you are the most selfish person I have ever seen" Arnav said.

"Why are you getting hyper, Arnav? It's you who said about the business tactics. Otherwise, how do I know about it? That's why I asked" Sheetal shrugged her shoulders.

Khushi knew Sheetal intentionally said that to create dissatisfaction in her mind about Arnav. That was why Arnav became angrier. She composed herself and said,

"However, there is a good thing in his selfishness. I got a sponsor. You have no idea what it means to me..." 

She looked at Arnav and said,

"I will be happy if you are more selfish. Do such things selfishly. It will give life to many people just like I got." She smiled making Arnav proud.

Aman smiled at Arnav who was suffocating in happiness because Khushi didn't think anything rubbish even after Sheetal tried to full her ears. Sheetal's condition was unnecessary to describe. Everyone knew that she would have fumed. 

"You are right. Everyone is selfish here..."

Arnav tried to say something but Khushi stopped him by showing her palm.

"Selfishness always ruins others' lives but your selfishness makes my life wealthier, makes me confident, shows me a winning path...! I like your selfishness" Khushi added.

"Thank you for understanding me" Arnav smiled.

"What else she could do? After all, she needs your help" Sheetal murmured.

"What's the relay race formation, ASR?" Aman changed the topic because he didn't need rift in the team. Their understanding was important to win the race. 

"I don't know... I think starting and finishing would be men" 

"If it is so, you are the starter because you will take a good lead, we will win easily," Aman said. 

"You are right. I will be the starter. Sheetal will be in the second position, Khushi will be third..."

"And, I will be the finisher" 

"Yeah... That will be a great formation"

Arnav dashed his fist with Aman.

Sheetal smirked. She expected this formation. However, she would be in the middle. She knew what to do. She left the place planning in her mind. 

Khushi also headed to their class. Arnav was about to follow her, but Aman stopped him by clutching his wrist. Arnav looked at him questioningly.

"Though Khushi is upset with you, she took your side," Aman said.

"That's Khushi... That's why she is special... That's what I liked in her" Arnav felt glad. 

"Yup, she is indeed a nice girl"

They came to their class. Preeto looked at Khushi contently.

"Why are you looking at me like this?"

Khushi asked.

"What's wrong with you and Arnav?"

Khushi looked down without answering.

"Khushi, I'm asking you only. What happened? Why do you keep your distance from him?"

"I sense a difference in his behaviour,", Khushi said in a gauzy tone.

"What difference?"

"He is trying to show me as his girlfriend"

"What do you mean?" 

"To irritate Sheetal, he got closer to me. I don't like it. So, I asked him to stay away from me"

"Then, why did you talk to him when he was with his friends in the ground?"

"Did you see us?"

"Yes... It was a short brake after all..."

"I talked to him, it's because he was with his friends. Sheetal would have taunted him if I had not talked to him. How could I let her do it?"

"So what if she taunts him? However, she would do that. What's new in that?"

"It doesn't mean I should be silent. She intentionally addressed him selfish. She tried to seed hatred in my mind. So, I took his side and shut her mouth"

"If you are so concerned about him, why do you keep your distance from him?"

Khushi became silent. 

"Khushi, why are you silent?"

"I... I think he loves me..." Khushi looked at Preeto restlessly who was stuck. 

"Why do you think so?" She asked making herself up. 

"His recent behaviour makes me think so."

"It's because he shows so much concern for you?"

"No Preeto, it doesn't seem just concern. He took me to his house... No, it's not a house... It's a palace! He said I reached the place where I belonged to. At that time, I didn't take it seriously but today, he asked me to act like we are in love... I don't like it"

"What don't you like? He asked you to just ACT?" Preeto asked with a penetrating gaze.

Khushi glared at him.

"So what if he loves you? He is a nice guy. You said he has no one. He may think you would be the one for himself... I don't think loving someone is a crime"

"Don't talk meaninglessly. We came from two extremes. It all feels good in a movie, but in reality, it won't work. I have no guts to face such a situation"

"But you will have Arnav. He will stand for you..."

"No Preeto, it's not good to desire more than I deserve"

"Ok, you don't deserve Arnav... But, doesn't Arnav deserve you?" She snapped. 

"I don't want to think of something that is beyond my level. Leave it" Khushi tried to stop her from talking more. 

"Ok... If Arnav really wants you in his life, he will get you by hook or by crook. Mark my words" Preeto challenged.

"Please, don't talk like that, Preeto. It makes me nervous," Khushi said, looking at Arnav, who smiled at her mildly. Khushi averted her gaze yay made Arnav smirk.
