Of course, Khushi was tensed… unimaginably tensed. She didn’t know what Arnav would do. He would do anything if he knew it was her engagement the next day. He would get to know only if she let him know. How could she let him know? If Akshara had implemented her plan, she would have gotten Arnav’s phone number by now. She was the only source for her. She should tell Akshara about the engagement. She could not wait until Garima slept.

Vinesh took their leave. Garima and Akash were on cloud nine. Their dream would come true in a day or two. After Khushi got married to Vinesh, they would become a millionaire. They floated in the pleasure of imagination.

Akash came to Garima and said,

“Mom, we should have to give a costly gift to Vinesh tomorrow”

“Good idea… what about a diamond bracelet?”

“Good selection but diamond would be so costly”

“So what? If we give him that tomorrow, we will get tenfold in return later” Garima said. whispering.

Those sugar-coated words added a sweetener to Akash’s imagination pleasure.

“Let’s go… we have no time…” Garima said.

Akash nodded ok.

“Khushi, we are going to buy a gift for Vinesh. You too accompany us…” Garima said.

“No. Amma, I’m going to do a facial for my engagement. Otherwise, I will not be fresh tomorrow” Khushi said looking in the mirror and making a weird face.

“Ok, where will you go?” Akash asked.

“I saw a beauty parlour in the street corner. I will do there”

He removed a few five hundred rupees notes and handed them to Khushi.

“Keep it”

“Oh… thank you so much, Aki…” Khushi hugged him sweetly.

“I want you to be happy… that’s all…”

“Of course, I will be happy with ARNAV… as you wish…” She smiled.

Garima caressed her hair lovingly.

“Amma, you can admire me later. Go and do your work. Then only you can come home soon”

“She is correct… we have no time,” Akash said.

“Yeah…I will bring my phone” Garima went to her room.

She came with a confused face.

“It’s not there. Where did I keep my phone?” Garima searched for it in the living room and then in the kitchen.

Khushi also pretended to be searching with her.

“Aki, ring her number” Khushi suggested.

Akash dialled Garima’s number and it was switched off. Akash rolled his eyes and said,

“Switch off”

“I think she forgot to put it in charge,” Khushi said.

“Yes… I too think so”

“Ok… I will search for it later. let’s go”

Akash and Garima left the house. Khushi also came out and locked the house as if she was really going to the beauty parlour.

Khushi waved her hand and got into the beauty parlour. Akash and Garima left the place. Khushi stood near the glass door of the parlour and waited. She could see them getting into an auto.  She was supposed to open the door, the beautician asked,

“What can I do for you, madam?”

“Will you do permanent hair dyeing?”

“No, madam… I don’t do it”

“Oh… it’s ok…”

Khushi came out of the parlour and hurried to her home. Locking the main door, she entered her room and removed Garima’s phone from under the bed. She dialled Akshara without wasting a minute. Akshara attended the call.

“Hello…”

“This is Khushi”

“Khushi, what’s the matter? Is everything all right?”

“Nothing is all right… Vinesh fixed our engagement tomorrow”

“Whaaat?”

“Yes, he wants me to shift to his house after the engagement. I don’t know why he is hurrying…”

“I think he got to know I’m in Mumbai…before I reveal his real face to you, he wants to trap you. that’s why he is hurrying…”

“I requested that our engagement should take place in the temple itself…”

“You have done a very good job… which temple?”

 “The same temple we met Arnav. Akshara I want you to tell Arnav about this engagement.”

“Don’t worry… not only about the engagement but also the seriousness of the issue… I will tell him everything.”

“Thank you so much, Akshara. I don’t know how to thank you…”

“That’s ok, Khushi… you don’t be scared”

“Scared and me? Why should I be when Arnav is there for me?”

Akshara was silent. She wondered about the trust Khushi had in Arnav.

“Are not you scared?”

“No… you don’t know about Arnav. just let him know the issue. You will see his ability”

“What would you have done if I hadn’t met you?”

“I would have directly talked to Arnav… simple…”

“Why don’t you do that now? You could have called him instead of me, right?”

“I told you, my brother challenged him… I want my brother to know Arnav won the challenge. So, it will happen in front of him… that’s why I didn’t call him”

“That’s nice… I’m eager to see your Arnav’s skills”

“You can see that tomorrow”

“Yeah…”

“Please call him”

“Of course… by the way, where is your mom and brother?”

“They went shopping to get a gift for Vinesh”

“Are you alone at home?”

“Yes…”

“do you want to hear what your Arnav says?”

“Can I?”

“Yeah… disconnected the call. I will record the conversation and send it to you”

“Really?”

“Yes…”

“Ok, thank you so much” Khushi disconnected the call and waited.

Akshara called Arnav. He received the call immediately as he saved her number.

“Hello…”

“This is Akshara…”

“Haan tell me…”

“Vinesh fixed the engagement tomorrow”

“Whaaaat?”

“Yes, it will take place in the temple”

“But why? What’s the reason for him to arrange it tomorrow itself?”

“He should have known that I reached Mumbai. Before I reach Khushi, he should have decided to trap her”

“What the hell…”

“Not only that… he is planning to take Khushi to his home after the engagement”

Arnav gulped down ahrd.

“If Khushi goes to his house, Vinesh will not mind about the wedding. After that, no one could save Khushi from him. Not even his mother and brother… he will do anything because it’s his territory. Khushi’s life will be gone…”

“Noooo… it will not happen. I will not let it happen”

“What will you do? What can you do? Do you know how dangerous and merciless he is…?”

“So what? He is not God though… he is not immortal… he will also die… right?”

“Of course, he does… but what does this issue do with this?”

“It will… could you do what I say?”

“Sure… what do you want me to do?”

Arnav said what she should do. Akshara was stunned.

“Are you sure? Are you going to do this?”

“Yes… I will. I have no choice. However, I will save Khushi. She is MINE. I will even die in the attempt to save her”

“By God’s grace, everything will happen in our favour”

“It will…” Arnav said confidently.

“We will meet tomorrow”

“Yeah… Thank you for your help.”

“You are welcome”

Akshara disconnected the call and sent the recording to Khushi. Khushi, who waited for that heard it. her eyes teared up listening to Arnav’s voice and his statements. Though she expected that, she was glad to hear that in Arnav’s voice.

She slept peacefully, leaving everything to Arnav but Arnav didn’t sleep. he could not. He was at a crucial point in life. He had to succeed. Otherwise, there was no use for him to be alive. He should DO or DIE. If he could not save Khushi, he would die for sure.

 

The next day

Guptas packed their stuff to go to Vinesh’s house after the engagement. They left home at an auspicious time.

Vinesh was waiting for Khushi in the temple already. He welcomed them. He looked at Khushi who looked like an Angel. She smiled at him.

“Shall we start?” Vinesh asked.

“Yeah… we can start…” Akash said.

“Let’s go, Khushi” Garima held her hand to take her to the alter.

She walked with Garima.

That was when they heard,

“Who is Vinesh here?”

All of them looked behind and were shocked, to see the police.

“We are Narcotics… You are under arrest for possession of cocaine…”

“Whaaaat? No… it’s not true”

“Is MH 02 AA 4567 car yours?”

Vinesh looked at his parents.

“We know it’s your car. Your driver already became an approver”

Vinesh was shocked. how it was possible when he didn’t have cocaine in his car? The Narcotics were not ready to give him time. They took Vinesh with them.

Khushi looked at the entrance and smiled inwardly, seeing Arnav entering the temple.
