 Epilogue

Arnav and Khushi smiled at each other exchanging the garlands. They signed the register to register their wedding lawfully. Nani signed for Arnav and Shashi signed for Khushi as witnesses. Very close and important friends were invited to the wedding. Yet, the court premises became crowded. After finishing the court formalities, all of them went to the restaurant where Arnav arranged food for everyone. Their friends made the restaurant lively with their teases and knock-jocks. The restaurant was filled with laughter. In all these, Arnav noticed Shashi and Garima nervous. He smiled inwardly. He knew why they were tensed.

People started leaving one by one. Arnav paid for the food and came out of the restaurant. Only Shashi, Garima, Nani and Aman were with the couple. Shashi and Garima looked at Arnav to know where would he take Khushi. Even Khushi didn’t tell them anything. They doubted if she knew where would Arnav take her. Of course, Khushi knew it. Without telling her anything, would Arnav decide or what? He just wanted her to keep it secret. He wanted to reveal it on their wedding day.  

“May we know where you are taking Khushi?” Shashi asked.

“Where else, uncle? I’m taking her to my place…” he said casually.

Shashi was supposed to ask him something, but Arnav stopped him,

“I want you and Aunty to come with us”

Shashi huffed in relief and readily agreed to go with them as he wanted to know the place. Arnav took them to an apartment.

“How long will you be here, Arnav?” Shashi asked.

“For life-long, uncle”

Shashi and Garima looked at him surprisingly.

“Yes, uncle, I decided to settle down in India.”

Shashi and Garima sighed in relief.

“I decided to start a detective agency in India with my friends. All are ready…”

“That’s a good decision, Arnav”

“Aren’t you scared?” Arnav asked smilingly.

“I know how talented you are Arnav. You are the talk of the Nation now. Even Aarav could not win over you. you will be succeeded in your aim. I believe”

“Thank you for trusting me, uncle”

“When will you start the agency?”

 “I would like to take Khushi to Scotland. We will stay there for a few weeks. After that only we will start the agency work. I have already applied for the licence. It will take time to complete the process”

 Shashi nodded with satisfaction.

“Ok, you guys carry on. We will leave”

“Why uncle? You and Aunty can stay with us today. Nani is also here with us”

“It’s ok, Arnav. we will stay here after you return from Scotland.”

Arnav looked at Khushi and asked,

“Is it ok? Don’t you want your parents to be with you?”

“Babuji, your son-in-law wants you to be with us. Fulfil his wish”

“We will surely fulfil his wish but not now… you guys enjoy your days. We will visit your place later” Garima said.

Khushi smiled looking at Arnav. Guptas took the newly wedded couple’s leave.

“Nani, do you want anything?” Khushi asked.

“No beta, I had milk in the restaurant. It’s enough for me. you can go”

Khushi nodded smiling. Nani went to the room arranged for her. She slept peacefully, after all, her grandson got married that day.

Khushi came to their room and got stuck seeing the decorated room.

“What’s there to be surprised? It’s our first night… remember?”

“But, I don’t know you would have been well prepared”

“Are not you?”

“Mmm…”

“Sit…” Arnav sat on the bed.

Khushi sat next to him.

“Are you happy?”

“Is this question necessary?”

“I just want to know how happy you are”

“I’m the happiest person in the world…”

“Really?”

“Mmm”

“Khushi, what if I’m not Arnav but Aarav?” Arnav asked controlling his smile.

Khushi was stuck for a few seconds and composed herself.

“No way…”

“Why?”

“I already CHECKED” She said controlling her laughter.

“Whaaat? Checked? How?”

“I observed you when my friends wished us. Your eyes didn’t analyse them. It was on only me… So, you can’t be Aarav”

“Khushi, Aarav always targeted only one girl… remember?”

“What’s the point?”

“You are my target now”

“Oh, really?”

“Are not you scared?”

“Arnav, whatever happened in the Ashram was recorded and telecasted on many channels. So, stop wasting time”

“What do you mean stop wasting time? What do you want me to do?” he asked cheesy.

Khushi bit her lip to control her blushing.

“By the way, you did you decide to settle in India?” Khushi asked.

“Don’t you know?”

She flipped her lower lip.

“I don’t want you to doubt I have a family in Scotland. That’s why” he laughed.

Khushi pinched his bicep.

“Ahhh...” Arnav rubbed his bicep smilingly.

Khushi pouted.

“Why should I settle down in Scotland when I have no one for myself? I went to Scotland only to avoid problem with Aarav. Most probably for you…”

“For me?”

“Yes, I could not have stopped myself from confessing my love to you. if I had done that, our love matter would have spread. Aarav would have targeted you if he had known I had a girlfriend. I didn’t want that to happen. That’s why I made myself aloof from you…”

“Didn’t you think the risk?”

“I thought. I didn’t confess my love to you but I believed that I could keep an eye on you…”

“Did you…?”

“Always… I knew what you were doing. At last, I came to India because the police declared Aarav’s death. At that time, I didn’t know he framed his death. When I decided to come to India I decided something too, my life would go as per your wish from here on”

“But why? What if my decision goes wrong?”

“Even though your decision goes wrong, I can make it right…! What I need is, your happiness because my happiness is up to you. Only you have rights over me. That’s the honour I can give to your love. I will always be with you and come after you because you are my destiny. I got separated from all my friends only for you, only to be with you. My dream came true today. I made you mine… I became yours”

Khushi leaned on his shoulder.

“I can’t believe within one month, a lot of changes happened in our life that changed our life upside down”

Arnav smiled mildly.

“I thought you forgot me. Until you visited India, I was unsure about my life. you made it stable. I didn’t know you would lose everything to get me. You would be ready to fight for me with your brother. Thank you for making me feel lucky, Arnav. You made my waiting worthwhile” She kissed his shoulder and again leaned on it.

“This is our first night. Are you going to change it as a Thanksgiving night?” he asked huskily.

Khushi closed her eyes smiling with a blush. Arnav lifted her chin and kissed her. Khushi closed her eyes getting ready to drown in it.
