Part 24 Annoyance

Khushi was looking behind even after Arnav left the place.

“Khushi…” Vinesh called her. Khushi noticed him sitting in the distance.

“Look at this diamond set…” Vinesh said.

The very next second Arnav left the place, NK came to them and stood next to Vinesh. Of course, to know Khushi’s reaction.

Khushi looked at Vinesh with confusion and asked,

“Why don’t you use your favourite perfume?”

Vinesh was stuck. Yes, Akash told him about the perfume. In the excitement of going out with Khushi, he used HIS perfume, leaving Arnav’s favourite perfume behind. In fact, he didn’t like it. He wanted Khushi to get used to HIS perfume’s smell. So, he didn’t give heed to it but, he didn’t know, the perfume would turn the table.

NK smiled inwardly, hearing her question. Arnav’s trick worked it seemed.

“I bought this perfume from Abroad. I liked it very much. I’m sure you too like it”

“I think you don’t understand my question. It’s not only about your favourite perfume. Don’t you know I will identify you with the smell?”

“Khushi, you were BLIND that time. So, you needed the perfumed to identify me. Now, everything changed. I don’t think it’s necessary”

Khushi didn’t know how to take it. Not because he didn’t show interest in his old perfume. She didn’t like the way he addressed her blind. He never mentioned the word BLIND before. He always mentioned VISUALY IMPARIED. She felt hurt. He might be right. It seemed EVERYTHING was changed. Including Arnav’s character, Khushi thought.

Seeing her thinking deeply,

“Khushi, please stop thinking unnecessarily. Look at your surroundings. See, how women are excited to buy new jewellery. Here, you are worrying about my perfume… You are unbelievable…”

Taking a jewellery set, he showed it to her.

“How is this?”

“Why are you buying this?”

“I want to gift you something…”

“You wanted to give me something… You told me about it when we spoke before your accident. Do you remember?”

Vinesh was trapped. He didn’t know about what Khushi was talking. What the bloody thing Arnav wanted to give her? He didn’t know how to manage.

“Khushi, you should understand one thing. You have all the right to ask me anything. I’m a busy man with a tight schedule. I can’t remember everything. It’s normal for me to forget something. Please remind me if I forget anything… please…” he tried to get the answer from her.

“You know what, Arnav… you have changed a lot. You are talking like you are a businessman from the beginning. I agree it’s normal to forget things but it’s not a thing to forget” Khushi said with disappointment.

“Khushi, after my accident, I feel confused. Please try to understand”

“I really can’t understand… how could you forget the thing that made you restless…? that made you furious…?”

“About what you are talking about, Khushi?”

“Leave it… let’s go”

“Khushi, don’t you take any jewellery set?”

“No thanks…” she stood up, making him disappointed.

Khushi walked not waiting for Vinesh. NK silently left the place and recited to Arnav what he heard.

“What did she want from you?” Aman asked.

“PHONE… in fact, she didn’t ask me. when her phone went missing, I told her that I would get her a new phone.”

“Oh… but I didn’t expect, your smell will make her restless” NK laughed.

“She has a very shape sense…” Arnav said proudly.

They saw Khushi getting inside the car. Vinesh opened the centre lock from inside the shop. He called Akash and he attended the call.

“Hi…”

“What did Khushi ask Arnav when he spoke to her before the accident?”

Akash tried to remember but could not because Akash was not there when Arnav told Khushi that he would get her an Android phone. Khushi just said ‘MMM’. So, Garima also didn’t know about it.

Vinesh was disappointed. He thought he could surprise Khushi, by knowing about the thing from Akash. But, his idea didn’t work. It seemed there were a few things between Arnav and Khushi that Akash and Garima didn’t know. He came to the car with disappointment. He selected a diamond set and brought it. He gave it to Khushi.

“I get it for you. You would look more BEAUTIFUL if you were this”

Khushi remembered something and asked,

“How beautiful?”

“You will be looking like an Angel…”

“Angel?”

“Yup… even real Angels will get jealous of you” he said like a typical lover.

Khushi looked into his eyes to see if she could see something special in them. She was left with only disappointment. She could not see anything. What happened to Arnav? He met with an accident but he was fit and fine. His mental ability was also fine. Then, why did he behave like he forgot everything? Didn’t he remember anything that happened between them? How could he forget what they talked about? Didn’t he say he would say looking into her eyes how beautiful she was?

Khushi pressed her head.

“What happened, Khushi?”

“My head is aching”

“Have a strong coffee…”

“No, please drop me home” she said not looking at him.

Vinesh was again disappointed. He started the car and headed to GH.

More than Vinesh, Khushi felt disappointed. Did money change anyone to this extent? Why could not she feel like he was Arnav? Was that because he was not behaving like Arnav? Or, was she expecting more from him? But he was not fulfilling half of her expectations too…! How curious he had been to meet her! There was no curiosity on his face.

Vinesh dropped Khushi at GH. Khushi got out of the car and was supposed to go inside, but she stopped hearing,

“Khushi…”

She looked at Vinesh.

“I read a quote… it’s highly idiotic to collect pebbles, leaving DIMOND behind…”

Khushi thought he was hinting at her not showing interest in taking a diamond jewellery set.

“It depends upon our mindset. We can’t PLAY with diamonds but with pebbles that will give us more happiness than the diamonds give…”

“You are so crazy…”

Khushi closed the door and went inside. Vinesh started the car. He called Akash. He attended the call.

“Sir, I joined your company,” Akash said happily.

“Mmm”

“Did you enjoy your outing?”

“Don’t ask me about it. I never expected getting your sister on the track would be this much tough”

“What she did sir? Did she hurt you?”

“I have never seen such a fool”

“Fool?”

“Then what? I kept so many designs of diamond jewellery sets in front of her… instead of taking a few sets from them, she was worrying about my perfume…”

Akash rolled his eyes.

“I don’t know how I will coax her if she is not interested in jewellery.”

“This is what we told you, sir. She is not like other girls. She is a little adamant”

“I’m going to ask my parents to fix our wedding in a week. What say?”

Akash was delighted. Arnav fixed the next Monday as the deadline. If Khushi’s wedding happened before that, he could not win.

“We will be glad if your wedding happens soon”

“My parents will declare it officially to your mother after consulting our pandit”

“Ok…”

“I would like to take Khushi to my company tomorrow. I think she will forget her past if she sees my company”

“It’s a good idea, sir. She should know there is a world beyond her knowledge”

“That’s what I want to do”

“Ok, sir. she will be ready tomorrow morning”

“Ok, bye” Vinesh disconnected the call.

Akash was tensed. Before Arnav proved himself, they had to fix their wedding. At the same time, Akash believed that Arnav could not prove without opening his mouth.

On the other side, Khushi came home with hung face. Garima rushed to her and saw her with empty hands.

“What?”

“Didn’t he get you anything?”

Khushi shrugged her hands off and walked to her room. She was already upset and adding to it, her mother was oiling the fire.

She sat on the bed annoyingly. That was when she remembered something. Where was her father’s WATCH…? Why didn’t Arnav tie it? She decided to ask him about it when she met him the next time.
